The Kiwanis Club of Rideau (Ottawa) Inc. was organized on October 28, 1955 with 30 members, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa. Our Club received its Charter from Kiwanis International on January 17, 1956 with 45 charter members registered.

Since its inception, our Club’s fund raising projects have raised in excess of $3.0 million dollars, which along with over 600,000 hours of voluntary service, have been contributed locally, nationally, and internationally to help those less fortunate. Some examples of major donations are as follows:
- $200,000 to the R.O.H. Psycho-Geriatric Facility
- $100,000 to the C.H.E.O Neo-Natal Research Laboratory
- $100,000 to the Civic Hospital for CATSCAN Equipment
Other donations of smaller amounts have been donated to: The Queensway Carleton Hospital, The University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Vincent Massey Bandstand, The Ottawa-Boys & Girls Club- Britannia Unit, The Ottawa Police Force Canine Unit, The Ottawa Police Crime Prevention Van, Camp Trillium Building Fund, Children’s Aid Society and hundreds of other worthwhile charitable causes and organizations.
In grateful recognition of Member’s individual contribution to their Kiwanis Club and community, and with the recommendation of the Rideau Kiwanis Club, Kiwanis International bestowed the status of “Life Member” to:
