Kiwanis Club of Rideau Weekly Lunch Meeting

This week's guest:  Mandi Duhamel on Women's Hockey in Canada

HEAD TABLE

President FRANK HEGYI was joined by our speaker, MANDI DUHAMEL and JOEL EDELSON (thanks).

OUR PROGRAM:

MANDI DUHAMEL spoke about her experiences as a women’s hockey player and coach.  She passionately outlined the strength and importance of the sport. The surprise was that there is no funding of any kind at any level of women’s hockey. Individual players at the Olympic level must find their own sponsors but the team does not receive funding. The Women’ National Hockey League has no sponsors or funders although the hockey is as good as or better than any you will find on a men’s rink.

Report provided by KIM CHADSEY.

ATTENDANCE: Our 5 guests were our speaker, MANDI DUHAMEL and an interclub from the Sage Club, FRANK CAULEY, FORD PATTERSON, HANK LAGASSE and MURRAY WILKER. Dr. ANDY MOODY sent his regrets.

HEALTH OF THE CLUB:  ABE BOOKMAN, a charter member, would welcome visitors at the Perley-Rideau Veterans Home, visitors should arrive after 1.00pm.
