This week's guest speaker: Suzanne Jacobson from Quick Start
HEAD TABLE
President FRANK HEGYI was joined by speaker SUZANNE JACOBSON and BRENDA REISCH (Introduction). Rev. GEORGE CLIFFORD gave invocation from the floor.
OUR PROGRAM:
Our speaker, SUZANNE JACOBSON founded QUICK START after her grandson was diagnosed with autism. He was on a waiting list for 10 months for the assessment and another two and a half years for treatment. Early intervention results in more successful treatment. Autistic care is very costly($50,000.00 per year), the Province of Ontario pays for 25 hours but 40 hours are recommended for best improvement. The clinic is free. Quick start is now in its fourth year and is funded by donations, there are no salaried staff. It operates a parent training program and has weekend respite program for parents, courtesy of local hotels. Early therapy saves tax money for treatment.
FRANK HEGYI thanked the speaker.
