Kiwanis Club of Rideau weekly lunch meeting

This week's speakers were Mandi Duhamel and Meredith Berriman from Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa

 

HEAD TABLE

President FRANK HEGYI was joined by speakers MANDI DUHAMEL and MEREDITH BERRIMAN and BRENDA REISCH (Introduction). Rev. GEORGE CLIFFORD gave invocation from the floor.

OUR PROGRAM:

Our speakers from CHILD and YOUTH FRIENDLY OTTAWA told of the programs run by the youth of Ottawa. They include Spirit of Youth awards for different activities such as Entrepreneurship, artistic and activist activities. They also produce a newsletter and advocate for youth at City Hall. Our donation will support these activities.

FIRMA FRENCH thanked the speakers.

ATTENDANCE: 17  members and 3 guests, ROSE HEGYI and our speakers MANDI DUHAMEL and MEREDITH BERRIMAN.

HEALTH OF THE CLUB:  ABE BOOKMAN, a charter member, would welcome visitors at the Perley-Rideau Veterans Home, visitors should arrive after 1.00pm.

PRESIDENT’S ROSE:  roses were presented to MANDI DUHAMEL and MEREDITH BERRIMAN. 

50/50 DRAW: JOEL EDELSON had the winning ticket and drew the three of clubs. The pot now stands at $457.00.

FINES and HAPPY DOLLARS: FIRMA FRENCH collected from BILL JOE,  JOEL EDELSON, ALAN ABELSON, JACQUES DALLAIRE, HUGH O’GORMAN, TED HEATHCOTE, ROSE HEGYI, JIM PUSKAS, WIM BIGOT and FRANK HEGYI.

BIRTHDAYS : 7th December – KAREN BARTON.

ANNIVERSARIES:  1st December – BILL and JUNE JOE.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS: none advised.

CLUB NEWS:

There were 6 applications received for the Charity of the Year donation of $5,000.00. The Board selected CHILD and YOUTH FRIENDLY OTTAWA as recipients. A vote to approve it was passed.

OTTAWA 67s 50/50 Draw.

The proceeds from 23rd  September to 28th October were distributed as follows:

 

KIWANIS CLUB OF RIDEAU     $1515.91

Charities:

THE DARON FUND                     $  366.67

KIWANIS CLUB OF KANATA   $1332.59

OTTAWA 67s FOUNDATION     $1332.58        

  

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Each member to notify Kim Chadsey (preferably by e-mail or failing that, by phone) each time service is performed, specifying the nature of the work done and number of hours. Kim will be able to log your hours and issue a report to members at the end of the fiscal year.
